Unique in Europe, a property in the area of Port of Gdańsk put up for tender
The Port of Gdańsk has announced a tender for a property of nearly 27 hectares with access to the Ore Pier (‘Pirs Rudowy’), located in close proximity to the Baltic Hub, the largest container terminal in the Baltic Sea.
The property is situated in the deep-water part of the Port of Gdańsk, known as the Northern Port. It is approximately 26.7 hectares in size. Significantly, it is included in the existing building permit for the ‘Construction of the Handling and Storage Terminal in the Northern Port in Gdańsk with technical infrastructure and demolition of buildings’. The building permit covers railway tracks, a parking lot, roads, hydrotechnical infrastructure required for mooring ships and infrastructure required for grain storage and handling. According to the local spatial development plan, the property is intended for production and service purposes.
The area is well connected. Recent years have seen a number of investments designed to bring rail and truck traffic to deep-water handling terminals. The Port of Gdańsk Authority has upgraded the road and rail system at the Northern Port. 7.2 km of roads and 10 km of track, including the access track to the property, have been rebuilt and constructed. The project for improving rail access to the port has been implemented by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. The task has involved the reconstruction of more than 70 km of track and 13 level crossings.
