Development of Rudowe Quay III
The scope of the Rudowe Quay III development project includes a 232.5 m section of the Rudowe Quay and an 18 m section of the Administracyjne Quay. Rudowe Quay III is currently being used for ship and cargo handling. Due to its poor technical condition (including sheet piling), berthing has been banned on part of the quay since 2019. The project envisages a new quay with a slab structure supported on a grid of reinforced concrete piles, with steel combined sheet piles at the front. A reinforced concrete pavement and a rail track are to be constructed on the quay. The quay is to be fitted with 1,000 kN bollards and spot fenders. The project also includes the construction of new water supply networks, a rainwater drainage system with a purification system, electricity grid and new lighting. Dredging work is also to be carried out to deepen part of the Górniczy Basin to an ordinate of -11.20 m (current ordinate is -6.1 to -10.2 m).
Objectives of the project:
Alignment of the mooring and fender line with the other Rudowe quays (i.e. Rudowe Quay I and II). Rudowe Quay III is currently positioned ‘backwards’ in relation to the adjacent cargo handling station. The new structure has been designed with an approx. 3 m water exit so that the pile cap retreat wall, sheet piles and fenders are aligned with Rudowe Quay II.
Increasing the load capacity of the quay. Currently, the permissible working load is 20 kN/m2. It shall be raised to 30 kN/m2 following reconstruction.
Adaptation of the quay for cargo handling with self-propelled equipment, such as LHM 550 and Mantsinen 300 – this is currently not possible as there is no necessary surface.
Increasing the technical depth of the quay to -11.20 m and the permissible depth to -13.20 m.
Adapting the quay to accommodate ships with a maximum draught of -10.60 m and a deadweight of up to 35,000 DWT (or 100,000 DWT lightened to a draught of -10.60 m).

Development of Bytomskie Quay
The scope of the Bytomskie Quay development project includes two sections of Bytomskie Quay: a slab section with a length of approximately 143 metres and a slope section of 60 metres.
Bytomskie Quay III is currently used for ship handling and cargo handling. Due to the unsatisfactory technical condition of the existing slab section of the quay and to allow larger vessels to berth, it was decided to rebuild the quay.
The project envisages a new quay with a slab structure supported on a grid of reinforced concrete piles, with steel combined sheet piles at the front. The quay will have a cement concrete surface reinforced with a dispersed reinforcement. The quay is to be fitted with 1,000 kN bollards and spot fenders. The project also includes the construction of new water supply networks, a rainwater drainage system with a purification system, electricity grid and new energy-efficient lighting. Dredging work is also to be carried out to deepen part by the quay to an ordinate of -10.20 m (currently -6.0 m).
Objectives of the project:
Extension of the quay to 203 m as a result of the land reclamation of 60 m of the sloping quay. The new structure is designed along the line of the existing slab quay.
Increasing the load capacity of the quay. Currently, the permissible working load is 20 kN/m2. It shall be raised to 30 kN/m2 following reconstruction.
Increasing the technical depth of the quay to -10.20 m.
Adaptation of the quay to accommodate ships up to 7,000 DWT and 120 m in length. It should be possible to adapt the quay to accommodate vessels of up to 15,000 DWT and 145 m in length following the removal of the pile mooring and communication pier of the existing pile mooring cargo handling station.

Development of Węglowe Quay
The scope of the Węglowe Quay development project includes a section of Węglowe Quay approximately 540 m long. Part of Węglowe Quay is currently not used for ship handling and cargo handling due to its poor technical condition. The project envisages a new quay with a slab structure supported on a grid of reinforced concrete piles, with steel combined sheet piles at the front. A reinforced concrete pavement, a rail track and crane rails are to be constructed on the quay. The quay is to be fitted with 1,000 kN bollards and spot fender equipment. The project also includes the construction of new water supply networks, a rainwater drainage system with a purification system and electricity grid. Dredging work at the quay is to be carried out to a depth of -11.20 m (current depth ~8 m).
Objectives of the project:
Increasing the load capacity of the quay. Currently, the permissible working load is 20 kN/m2. It shall be raised to 40 kN/m2 following reconstruction.
Adaptation of the quay for cargo handling with self-propelled equipment, such as LHM 550 and Mantsinen 300 – this is currently not possible as there is no necessary surface.
Increasing the technical depth of the quay to -11.20 m and the permissible depth to -12.70 m.
Adapting the quay to accommodate ships with a maximum draught of -10.60 m and a deadweight of up to 100,000 DWT.

Development of Wiślane Quay
The scope of the Wiślane Quay development project covers a section of approximately 920 m. Wiślane Quay, in the section to be extended, is currently in poor technical condition and requires urgent repairs. As part of the work a new heavy slab type quay structure with a front steel pile wall and pile grate is planned for construction. A reinforced concrete surface necessary for the operation of self-propelled cranes is to be constructed on the quay. Crane tracks will be constructed on part of the quay to allow for the operation of low-emission rail loading equipment. The quay is to be fitted with 1,000 kN bollards and spot fenders. The project also includes the construction of new water supply networks, a rainwater drainage system with a purification system, telecommunication network, electricity grid and new lighting. Dredging work is also to be carried out to deepen part at the extended section of the quay to an ordinate of -12.00 m (currently the ordinate ranges from -7.6 to -10.7 m).

Increasing the load capacity of the quay. Currently, the permissible working load is 20 kN/m2. It shall be raised to 60-80 kN/m2 following reconstruction.
Adaptation of the quay for cargo handling with self-propelled equipment, such as a LHM 550 and Mantsinen 300.
Increasing the technical depth of the quay to -12.0 m and the permissible depth to -13.50 m.
Adapting the quay to accommodate ships with a maximum draught of -11.40 m and a deadweight of up to 100,000 DWT.

Monitoring visits of CEF projects have a regular character, occur during and at the end of the implementation of the Project financed by the EC. The purpose of the meetings is to verify the physical progress and control at the Project locations. Participants include Project ‘supervisors’ from: CINEA (The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and the Centre for EU Transport Projects.
